WHO:

Robyn Ballard was diagnosed with PD in 2001. She probably had PD for at least five years before the diagnosis when the 80% cells in the brain that produce dopamine began dying. When the symptoms started, she sought help in Canandaigua where, over time, she found the doctor had made the correct diagnosis, but, at the time, she felt the need to seek a second opinion at the UR. Over the years, she has tried to keep a positive attitude, participated in clinical studies, taken medications, joined a support group, participated in Moving days, had the Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgery, and has been supported by family and friends. She’ll be taking part in the festivities at Moving Day again this year. She is blessed to be doing so well.

WHAT:

Moving Day is your chance to speak up about Parkinson’s disease and move others to take action. It is a movement for change—towards more awareness, more funding, and more understanding of a disease that affects so many of our family and friends. The Parkinson’s Foundation Greater Rochester Chapter is dedicated to making life better for people with Parkinson’s disease by improving care and advancing research toward a cure.
